Dryer VentDuring his thorough inspection, Andy identifies any vent installation problems such as too long a run or too many elbows. If the vent termination is at a lower elevation than the dryer outlet, this also reduces airflow. He then goes through a professional dryer vent cleaning process. For a typical dryer vent that is not totally plugged, Andy takes a distance measurement from the back of the dryer to the vent termination. He turns on the dryer and from the termination runs a brush and flexible nylon rods that are spun by a cordless drill right to the dryer. As the brush proceeds through the vent the loose lint comes out of the termination. Next, the back of the dryer is disconnected, any visible lint is removed and an air speed measurement of the dryer is taken. If the vent is too plugged for the force of the dryer to push the loosened lint out the termination, a large 1 horsepower air mover is connected to the dryer end of the vent to blow the lint out the termination. The last step is to reconnect the system and take a final air speed measurement at the termination to ensure the efficacy of the system. When the work is complete, Andy leaves your residence just as clean as when the job was started.

Chimney FlueFor a typical fireplace service, Andy evaluates your chimney to determine if there is enough creosote built up to warrant a cleaning. If the chimney needs to be cleaned, he puts down drop cloths to walk on and set equipment on. No creosote or soot comes into the room. An industrial vacuum runs continuously during the cleaning process. Chimneys usually have a natural up draft but if any particles come down, they will go into the vacuum not your room.
The fireplace flue is cleaned from the inside up. Andy uses a brush appropriately sized to your flue, attaching flexible rods, he scrubs each section of the chimney and the brush comes out the top. During cleaning, the creosote that ends up on the smoke shelf is removed. |
